Summary Post: Austria

Wahoo, time for another Summary Post! This time it’s Austria, which was a really nice country.

As you’ll know if you’ve read my blog posts is that I spent more time in cities than riding my bike through Austria. This was because I was waiting for my friend in Salzburg then visiting Vienna..
The riding was great, generally on cycle routes,
  • Days in country: 7
  • Days riding: 3
  • Kilometres ridden: 274 km (longest day 109km (some of which was in Czech))
  • Running total (nearest 10km): 2520km
  • Accom cost: ~90 Euro (Due to quite a few nights in hostels)
  • Other costs: ~120 Euro (Lots of beer, and transport to and from Vienna)
  • Flats: None!! Yay.
  • Tunnels built specifically for bicycle transport: One!
  • Times I set up the tent whilst getting pelted by hail in a thunderstorm: once..
  • Time after tent was set up that sun came out: 20 minutes.
  • Favourite food/drink: The most interesting was the pumpkin seed oil on the salad at my warmshowers hosts!
  • 1 night in a campground,  4 nights in hostels and 2 nights with Warmshowers hosts.
  • Favourite photo: Treelined road. I like the hill in the background too as it shows the sort of landscape I was riding through.

Even in Europe the roads can be quiet enough to get a shot from the middle of the road
