Chamonix

April 10th, 2012 by DC

I’ve spent the last few days in Chamonix having a good break. I had 2 nights at the youth hostel, and now have 2 nights with a great Warmshowers host about 10km east of town (towards Switzerland).

The photos below are from Chamonix- mainly a trip I did yesterday up the Aiguille du Midi– a big peak above Chamonix that provides great views (if it’s not clagged in). It’s higher than NZ’s highest mountain Aorangi/Mt Cook (and Mt Erebus). I did notice the altitude up there which was pretty cool.

Tomorrow I head into Switzerland which I’m looking forward to. Although it’s a nice sunny day today, so I feel a bit guilty not being on the bike!

UPDATE: Smugmug plugin isn’t working (possibly because I’ve got too many photos) – I suggest you click through from the following photo:

It's starting to snow (and I'm in shorts and jandals)
